YES! is currently seeking a full time Program Coordinator to join its 6-person staff in Santa Cruz, CA. Founded in 1990, YES! connects, inspires and collaborates with young changemakers in building thriving, just and sustainable ways of life for all. YES! has held 90 week-long camps and Jams for diverse young leaders from 60+ nations. YES! Jams unite groups of 30 young leaders for week-long transformative, community-building events that help to deepen the root system that underlies movements for progressive social transformation.

Program Coordinator
The Program Coordinator will work in collaboration with the Program Manager to support the projects of YES!. S/he will be responsible for logistical support and, in time, visionary leadership in YES!’s programmatic development. The primary responsibilities of this position include event-related logistics, alumni support, note-taking, evaluation and documentation, travel coordination, and local programming.
Qualifications, skills and experience
- Experienced in community organizing (minimum 2 years prior experience)
- Experienced with event planning and implementation
- Interest in facilitating or coordinating Jams and other YES! programs
- A constituent of YES! programs (ie a young leader)
- Excellent at both verbal and written communications
- Savvy, quick learning, resourceful, and good at thinking outside the box
- Highly organized, passionate, self-motivated, and energetic
- Interested in a long term position
- Personable, warm, and able to get along and work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds
- Seeking to live in integrity with their values
- Committed to personal growth and valuing of respectful, open and honest communication
- Health conscious and vegetarian friendly
Compensation
Salary will be $31,000-$36,000+, depending on experience, plus benefits.

Detailed Job Description: Program Coordinator

Leveraging Privilege for Social Change (LPSC) Jam
- Coordinate the databasing of applicants
- Coordinate making a listserve for the participants
- Coordinate travel, rides, transportation, visas (if applicable) and supporting documents
- Coordinate on site logistics (like supplies, kitchen setup, etc.) and other possible staff support, as necessary
- Work with Development Manager to coordinate food donations and delivery
- Coordinate materials, participant list, and packing list for the event
- Coordinate with photographer or videographer for photo / video documentation of event
- Coordinate with the chef / cook
- Remind organizing team/steering committee about hours submission for monthly payment
- Support the Program Manager and LPSC Co-Coordinators when needed
World Jam
- Coordinate the databasing of participants
- Coordinate making a listserve for the participants
- Coordinate the implementation of evaluation systems for the program
- Support/assist Program Manager and Co-Coordinators in overall implementation of the project timeline and any related tasks.
- Coordinate travel, rides, transportation, visas and supporting documents (possibly in tandem with the event host)
- Coordinate with on-site organizer for home-stays
- Coordinate on site logistics, as necessary
- Coordinate materials, participant list, and packing list for the event
- Coordinate with photographer for photos of event
- Coordinate with the chef / cook, establish a liaison
- Participate in Steering Committee conference calls and take and distribute notes on decisions made
- Remind facilitators and organizers about hours submission to Operations Manager
CAI
- Participate in steering committee
- Coordinate the outreach material, website and communications
- Budget upkeep
- Coordinate the timeline – monthly meetings, annual retreats, etc.
- Coordinate the evaluation and reporting
- If possible, participate in monthly meetings
- Build relationships with CAI community
Workshops
- Coordinate the written outreach and program material
- Coordinate the website updates for workshops
- Co-Coordinate the timeline and design of workshops with Program Manager
- Make sure that the workshops are a success: the venue secured, the facilitators contacted & confirmed, facilitators compensated, outreach done, snacks and logistics secured
- Co-coordinate laying of groundwork for workshops
- Evaluate program for consistency with vision
- Participate or co-lead workshops
- Find and engage co-sponsors, when necessary
Program Committee
- Coordinate the Program Committee conference calls and take and distribute notes on decisions made
- Send notes from Board meetings
- Send notes from important staff communications
Global Collaborative
- Coordinate and organize logistics for the next GC meeting
Semi-Autonomous Projects
- Be the program liaison with semi-autonomous projects (in conjunction with the Program Manager) being updated on their work and how YES! can best support their success
Alumni Liaison
Work with the Program Manager to share responsibilities as Alumni Liaison in the following areas:
- Maintain relationships with YES! alumni
- Follow-up after jams / events
- Keep finger on pulse of what is happening in the work / life of alumni
- Help support new projects and ideas
- Connect alumni to potential partners, donors, friends, when appropriate
- Support of Jam Alumni with follow-up such as:
1. Urgent financial need in times of crisis
2. Fundraising support (often recruitment for fundraising events or for travel scholarships)
3. Program recruitment (help spreading the word about activities and recruiting young people)
4. Personal safety crisis (such as letter-writing campaigns in response to community safety, help after events like Katrina, Jennifer and Ibrahim’s situation, etc.)
5. Hands-on projects (i.e., Selma election and green re-building in New Orleans).
Alumni Support
- Alumni Support Survey, compilation of survey.
Newsletter
- Draft articles
- Work with alumni for article preparation.
- Work with Development Manager on programmatic content in newsletters with Program Manager.
House Parties
- Contribute to content related conversations for the program
- Attend as many of the House Parties as possible.
- Represent the voice and structure and spirit of programs at YES! in the presentation.
Fundraising
- Make 20 - 40 calls to donors annually
- Maintain relationships with donors
Evaluation and Reporting
- Coordinate the evaluation of each program area for use in reporting and information-sharing with the larger YES! community.
