Bio:
Susan just completed a graduate degree in International Development Policy Management along with a Masters in Social Work from the University of Washington with a focus on the intersections of public policy and community organizing. Susan presently serves on the planning committee of the Somali Rights Network in Seattle working to coordinate community forums and to pass federal legislation in the United States that would enforce the U.N. arms embargo on Somalia (which the U.S. is indirectly violating) and also hold warlords in Somalia accountable for human rights violations. Susan also has been working with the Statewide Poverty Action Network to create an economic justice curriculum to be used as an organizing tool in Washington State. Coming from a family of early settlers in Palestine, her history has taught her to be really intentional not only of her goals, but of the means by which they are met.
