Bio:

Shireen Najjar was raised in the Jewish Palestinian cooperative village of Neve Shalom/Wahat al-Salam -- the only community in Israel where Jewish and Palestinian citizens have chosen to live, work and educate their children together for more than twenty years. It is home to a bilingual, bicultural Primary School and the internationally renowned School for Peace, and has been nominated five times for the Nobel Peace Prize. Since high school Shireen has attended the Hebrew University, majoring in bio-chemistry and food science and becoming deeply involved in the Arab Students Association. In 2000, she toured the United States on a speaking tour, sharing realities about the Israeli/Palestinian situation, and a possibility of coexistence and peace that she has lived her whole life. Her work was featured in the August, 2002 issue of Glamour.
