Bio:
Rose grew up in Mount Kisco, NY, the fourth of six children. Shortly after graduating from Georgetown University, she inherited a substantial financial portfolio from her parents and began to wrestle with how to respond to injustice in the world as a wealthy Christian. In her early and mid twenties, she worked with homeless women in Washington, DC and got an education in Christian activism from friends who were Catholic Workers. She then taught high school religion at a Catholic high school in suburban Maryland. While a teacher, she continued to stay connected to organizations working in the inner city of DC and often brought students from the suburbs into the city to learn about the realities of injustice and poverty. During that time, she also traveled to Haiti and Bosnia in order to learn about and have her heart broken open to the realities of the world - so that she could learn how to live and respond soulfully. Six years ago, she moved to the San Francisco Bay Area to pursue a Masters of Divinity at the Jesuit School of Theology in Berkeley. She began work at Harvest Time shortly after graduating and was recently appointed Co-Director of that organization which accompanies wealthy Christians as they respond to the realities of poverty, war and injustice with their lives and resources. In addition to being interested in issues connected to economic justice, she also facilitates retreats and playful, sacred rituals for women and, more recently, young people in prison. She also writes articles about Christian spirituality. She currently lives in San Jose, CA with her two sons. Together, they love to dance, search for treasures on the beach, bake chocolate chip cookies and visit motorcycle dealerships.
