Rebecca was born to a 15 year old drug abuser who shortly became a run-away. She grew up in areas of impoverishment and quickly left home as soon as she got the chance. After having a child at 19, Rebecca slowly worked her way through school and just finished her BA in Psychology. During this time, Rebecca learned that her grandmother, whom she had seen fairly rarely through her childhood, had begun a family foundation years ago. Learning that she would inherit large sums of money, Rebecca slowly sobered up to the reality of what that meant and once gently introduced into the concepts of the Bert and Mary Meyer Foundation, began to realize she was to draw upon her personal experiences while utilizing this fantastic opportunity to create change in the world around her. As a single mom who is committed firstly to her son and his growth as an individual with a healthy idea of equality and responsibility, Rebecca volunteers regularly at her son’s school believes that to teach her child these values, she must live intentionally
