Bio:

Harlyn grew up in coastal Colombia, Dallas, TX and Muskegon, MI. Harlyn is an educator, philosopher, and strategic developer of partnerships. Through a formidable educational experience at the University of Michigan, Harlyn was able to organize around issues that affected students of color--the efforts led to a multi million dollar renovation of the campus multicultural center. For his efforts we was awarded the Latino/a and Black&Brown community awards. He has also worked with Democracia USA's predecessor in 2004, contributed to a bilingual public affairs radio program covering Latin America and New York City communities, has organized for immigrant rights, and currently works at Children's Arts and Science Workshops to empower high school students in the Washington Heights neighborhood of New York City with internships, mentoring, and a pre-college preparation program.
