A co-founder of Critical Resistance Beyond the Prison Industrial Complex and the Making Money Make Change gatherings (both of which were initated in 1998), Gita currently is the co-director of the Active Element Foundation which exists to support grassroots youth organizations through grantmaking, technical assistance, networking and philanthropic education. Gita sits on the boards of Third Wave Foundation, the Collage Foundation and Justice Now.
