"I never saw myself as privileged. I knew I had privilege, that I had opportunities others did not but I would never outwardly label myself as privileged. I worked hard and I achieved goals. I am a type A person and I make lists and get results. The Jam enabled me to take a break from all that and realize that there is another side of me that has just as much strength and can be ‘leveraged’ for just as much good. I learnt, in a remarkably concrete way, the difference between ‘the heart’ and ‘the mind’ and how they unite in my relationships with my family, my goals, my work and in the subsequent privilege that these provide for me. The uniqueness of the Jam is that I did not learn this from experts, panels or keynotes but rather I learnt this through myself- myself as part of a community. The community that YES created is its strength and the community was what enabled me to take risks, listen, understand and eventually learn for myself. It is a rare experience in our frenetic world and one that will continue to shape me. I highly recommend you try."
