Colorado Mini-Jam

YES! Mini-Jam – Denver/Boulder, CO

Date: Friday, December 2, 2012

Location: Wesley Foundation and Chapel, 1290 Folsom St.
Boulder, CO 80302

Co-hosted by: PeaceJam Foundation and Patchwork School

Someone once said, “Whatever the problem, community is the answer.” What if we could harvest the connections, wisdom and power of our local community? What might Denver/Boulder look like if the dots were connected – at all levels? What could the future hold?

Join a diverse, intergenerational group of leaders, activists, philanthropists, social entrepreneurs, educators, etc., who are committed to using the resources and opportunities in their lives to make a positive difference in Colorado and beyond.

YES! invites you to participate in a day-long experience: a mini-Jam. It's in the spirit of a musicians' jam – bringing together the vitality of each person's unique self to co-create a dynamic whole. It connects the dots of personal, interpersonal, and systemic change – making music that's never been heard before.

Building on 22 years of work around the world, and fresh off the success of a powerful local mini-Jam in Turkey, YES! offers this mini-Jam to our Colorado-based friends, allies and supporters. It is being hosted in collaboration with Jam alumni from two wonderful local organizations, PeaceJam Foundation and the Patchwork School.

The YES! mini-Jam will run from 10 am - 5 pm. Over the course of the day, we will engage in a variety of activities to examine our life journeys, our diverse identities, our relationships, our sense of generosity, and our visions of a healthier city, stronger region and a better world. We will build partnerships and gain skills to help us make a bigger difference with our lives.

We ask participants to bring their own lunches (and, if you can, something to share); snacks and drinks will be provided. And, we invite people to contribute to the mini-Jam on a sliding scale of $5 to $200. All donations to YES! are tax-deductible.

Connections. Vision.  Humanity.  Acceptance.  Love.  Friendship.  Hugs!  Insight.  Learning.  Growth. and so much I can’t put into words.  Thank you!” - Drew, age 27, natureopath, Portland

It’s always reassuring and empowering to rediscover that people from varying circumstances have similar goals.  Support in the form of listening and respect is powerful, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to listen and be heard.” - Lizzy Stahl, age 19, University of Puget Sound student, Seattle

I was able to see how YES! is designing a much needed space for removing barriers to connections that would change the old destruction order. And, I could see and understand the English language world view in a different and meaningful way that is not oppressive and limiting but liberating for finding co-creative solutions.” - Patricia Davis, age 68, Diné elder, Seattle
